What Actually Launched

Two things dropped simultaneously, and they’re designed to work together.
SensibleAI Agents are pre-built agents that run natively inside OneStream and now inside Microsoft 365 — including Excel and Teams. They handle the unglamorous but critical work: reporting, financial analysis, and enterprise search. Launched in 2025, they’re already deployed at scale inside some of the world’s more complex organizations.
The Finance Agentic Layer is the bigger architectural move. Built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), it gives any external AI tool — Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini — secure, governed access to OneStream’s financial data. Think of it as a trust bridge between the AI tools your team already uses and the financial logic those tools have never had.
Why Governance Is the Whole Point

Here’s the problem with asking ChatGPT to explain why revenue is down this quarter: it doesn’t know your account codes, your business rules, or whether you’re even allowed to see that data.
OneStream’s Finance Agentic Layer solves this by authenticating every interaction against the user’s existing OneStream identity and role-based permissions. If you can’t see it in OneStream, you can’t see it through Claude either. Every query is logged. Every output is auditable. Finance teams get AI speed without sacrificing the controls that auditors — and CFOs — actually care about.
Microsoft’s CTO for Americas Enterprise Partner Solutions, Tony Surma, put it plainly: financial context and data governance are what make AI trustworthy for finance. The OneStream partnership brings exactly that into the Microsoft 365 environment.
The Agents, Broken Down

Four agents are now available, each targeting a distinct workflow pain point.
Forecast Agent *(New)*
Ask questions about forecasts in plain language, get answers in financial terms grounded in real-time data. No syntax. No account codes. Just questions and answers that actually make sense.
Finance Analyst Agent
Natural language queries against live financial data, returning real-time analysis and reports. The kind of thing that used to take an analyst half a day now takes a prompt.
Search Analyst Agent
Enterprise search across documents, platform guides, and unstructured data — with source transparency. You know where the answer came from, which matters more than most people admit.
Deep Analysis Agent
Built for high-stakes complexity. Feed it contracts, compliance materials, or large document sets and ask the hard questions. It connects dots across unstructured data at a scale no human team realistically can.
A Real-World Signal: Cox Enterprises

OneStream isn’t just announcing capabilities — it’s pointing to deployments. Cox Enterprises is already using SensibleAI Agents to replace manual data hunting with automated insight surfacing.
Allison Adrian, AVP of Finance Solutions Delivery at Cox Enterprises, described the shift clearly: instead of searching for information, the team now uncovers trends, root causes, and variance drivers fast enough to actually act on them. That’s the difference between a reporting tool and a decision-support tool.
What This Means for the Market

OneStream is making a deliberate bet that the future of enterprise AI isn’t a single model — it’s a governed data layer that any model can plug into. The MCP-based Finance Agentic Layer is essentially an open invitation to every AI tool in the ecosystem: connect here, and you’ll finally be useful to finance teams.
For the broader AI tools market, this is a meaningful signal. Governance, auditability, and role-based access aren’t enterprise checkbox features anymore. They’re the actual product. Any AI tool targeting finance workflows that ignores this architecture is going to have a harder conversation with procurement.
OneStream has 1,800 customers, including 18% of the Fortune 500. SensibleAI Agents are generally available now. The Finance Agentic Layer is open to third-party AI tools via MCP.
The governance gap in finance AI was real. It’s getting smaller.
